An essay on the hidden origins of Zharotia’s images: impressions gathered since childhood that return, unbidden, as leaves, trees and winged creatures. The writer argues that the mystery in the work comes from his hold on form and pattern rather than from contrived drama, and that he wisely never interferes with the workings of his own psyche. The text is followed by several of his poems in English translation.
