A review of Zharotia’s exhibition at the Simroza Art Gallery, Bombay: 54 watercolours and 40 ceramic sculptures, most made in 1987. The writer sees human figures merging with animals, birds and plants as a way of revealing the inner, not only the physical, change in people, notes his masked characters and his use of a flag to make wind felt in a still picture, and distinguishes his heightened realism from Western Surrealism.
