Press release

Press release

An interview in Hindi on his early life: born in 1945 into an ordinary family in old Delhi, he watched a signboard painter on his way to school, learned calendar art, joined the Delhi Polytechnic in 1963, and, unable to pay the fees, continued at Sharda Ukil School of Art and Triveni before entering the College of Art, Delhi, in 1969.

He speaks about faces, about why watercolour is his favourite medium, about the Joker and Game of Love series, and about how working with J. Swaminathan and Manglesh Dabral at the Patriot drew him to poetry.

कागज पर पानी को देखना मुझे आह्लादित कर देता है।

Watching water on paper fills me with delight.
