Press release
An interview published during an exhibition of Zharotia’s paintings at the LTG Art Gallery, New Delhi. It lists awards including the Sahitya Kala Parishad awards of 1979 and 1980, the AIFACS award of 1987 and the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award of 1993.
Zharotia speaks of fantasy rather than the unconscious, of recurring motifs such as the boat, the masked clown and the running man, of composite figures that blur the line between human and animal, and of the medium as a means, not an end.
It is, in a sense, a liquid volume of the soul.
