Written for an exhibition of oils on canvas by an artist then known mainly for his graphics. The paintings deal with mythology and composite forms, with human relationships on one level and the hidden workings of thought on another.
Works discussed include Desire, a mauve flower bowing before a woman in red; The Eternal Float, a boat beneath a tree of life; Mystical Circus I; and Poor Bird.
